Thought to have been a set of twins prior to his birth in Tuba City, Arizona, Dale Deforest was born not with a pencil in his hand, but one fused into his cranium. Rather than having it surgically removed, his mother thought it be best it grow out on its own and PERHAPS fall into his hands. During which, Dale grew up in and around the Navajo Reservation border town of Farmington, New Mexico. Struggling with illusions of grandeur and popularity, Dale attended high school at the Navajo Preparatory School in Farmington and in spite of all those who wished he could only fail once more, Dale graduated with his diploma and continued his education (which led him to Santa Fe). Still struggling no doubt, with the popularity issue, Dale continues to illustrate. Not only for True Believers Comics & Gallery but for numerous publications including The Santa Fe Reporter, The Santa Fe New Mexican, The Santa Fean Magazine and other Santa Fe Publications currently in circulation.
Dale is currently at work with Laura Marsh's project involving True Believers' mascot monkey, Apollo. Tentatively, the project is well under way and we look forward to a late December or Early January release. Dale's goals today include a desire for his art to be taken more seriously among the comics community and hopefully land a few more paying gigs with more substantial publications like Apollo's Press.
